The SIDI Study at USF

Randomized Trial of Distress Tolerance Treatment for Substance Users

(IRB Study #Pro00009634)

Dr. Marina Bornovalova is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mental Health Law and Policy at the University of South Florida. Dr. Bornovalova created the "Randomized Trial of Distress Tolerance Treatment for Substance Users" to evaluate a new type of therapy, called SIDI (Skills for Improving Distress Intolerance), that targets moods, emotions, and the ability to handle stressful situations. This research, also known as "the SIDI study at USF", aims to help people who have received treatment for substance abuse. The results from the SIDI study will be used to develop more successful types of therapy, which will help people quit using drugs.
