This report deals with one of the most vulnerable groups covered by Medicaid: older adults whose medical conditions necessitate that they spend the remainder of their lives in an institutional context. Nursing homes are the last refuge for many older Floridians, and while such homes have received some attention in the literature, there is very little information available about the circumstances in which institutionalized racial/ethnic minorities find themselves.
