Description:

In September 2001, Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) released a Request for Proposals for Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program (SIPP) services for individuals under the age of 18. The purpose of the SIPP program was to provide specialized psychiatric diagnostic, treatment, and aftercare services to high-risk Medicaid beneficiaries under the age of 18. Program goals include:

  • Stabilization of presenting symptoms
  • Reduction of readmissions into acute or SIPP services
  • Reduction in the length of stay for psychiatric inpatient services in acute care general hospitals
  • Design of an effective aftercare plan
