School Based Behavioral Health
Publication Date: 6/1/2005
Description:
Th is research study focused on identifying exemplary school-based behavioral health services that implement empirically supported programs to produce signifi cantly better outcomes for children. In order to promote and optimize the healthy mental health development of children, national models for eff ectively integrating behavioral health services into school settings were explored that subsequently may be adapted for implementation in Florida sites. Using a case study approach, three school-based mental health programs were reviewed that have demonstrated effi cacy in other states. Medicaid has provided a signifi cant source of funding for the implementation of these programs, and all three models require strong partnerships between education and mental health systems in the delivery of services. An analysis was completed that investigates key components of these programs that have successfully integrated services between local mental health providers and schools on behalf of students with behavioral health needs.
