When a mental health professional conducts a custody evaluation with allegations of child sexual abuse and/or spouse abuse, the evaluator must make complex decisions about the format and procedures for the evaluation. Participants will learn how to conduct these complex custody evaluations using a format and methods that will stand up under legal scrutiny.

  • Florida law related to child custody evaluations, child sexual abuse, and domestic violence
  • Assessment approaches for evaluating child sexual abuse and domestic violence
  • The format and methods for conducting complex child custody evaluations including those with allegations of child sexual abuse perpetrated by a parent and/or domestic violence
  • Essential elements of the evaluation process
  • Ethical issues and professional guidelines related to evaluations of alleged domestic violence
  • Interview techniques to employ with children
