Departmental activities within policy analysis and evaluation examine the extent to which local, state, and national policies achieve their intended goals. These activities can be classified into two board categories; (1) analytical and (2) prescriptive. Analytical activities include describing and documenting the historical basis of policies as well as their implementation and resulting outcomes. Prescriptive policy analysis activities involve using evaluative data to help inform and develop new policies.
