Richard Van Dorn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mental Health Law and Policy. Dr. Van Dorn received his Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Washington University in St. Louis and his Doctor of Philosophy degree, with Distinction, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Van Dorn was awarded two predoctoral research fellowships; the National Institute of Health, through a National Research Service Award supported Dr. Van Dorn’s research at the Carolina Consortium on Human Development at the University of North Carolina and he was a Spencer Fellow in Education Policy Research at Duke University. Dr. Van Dorn also held a two year appointment as a National Institute of Mental Health Postdoctoral fellow in Mental Health Services and Systems Research in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University Medical School.
