Biography

John Robst is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Mental Health Law & Policy. He received his MBA in Finance, and M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Dr. Robst’s current research focuses on risk adjustment in the State of Florida Medicaid program, cost-effectiveness comparisons for children placed into Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care and Specialized Therapeutic Group Homes, and the long-term economic effects of childhood sexual abuse.

Prior to coming to FMHI, Dr. Robst was at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). His research at CMS involved the development of payment systems for capitated programs covering managed care enrollees, beneficiaries with End Stage Renal Disease, and enrollees in the Medicare prescription drug program. He also performed research on the determinants of Medigap supplemental insurance premiums, and developed a geographic price index for Medicare managed care payments.

Prior to CMS, he worked at SUNY-Binghamton where his research focused on topics related to labor economics, the economics of education, and the relationship between international trade and conflict.
