Biography     

 

Michael D. Knox is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Mental Health Law and Policy. He holds joint appointments as Professor of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine and as Distinguished Professor of Global Health in the College of Public Health. Dr. Knox has courtesy appointments as Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Distinguished Professor of Aging Studies.

Dr. Knox, a licensed psychologist, is founder and director of both the Florida/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center and the USF Center for HIV Education and Research. He also serves on the faculty of the India Center for Health, HIV/AIDS Research and Training. He is the senior editor and contributor to HIV and Community Mental Healthcare, a book published in 1998 by The Johns Hopkins University Press. He was Co-Chair of the American Foundation for AIDS Research’s 16th National HIV/AIDS Update Conference held in 2004. His biography is included in the latest editions of Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in American Education.

Dr. Knox has been responsible for more than $35 million in grants and other external funding to USF. He has developed grant-funded collaborations with the USF Departments of Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Criminology, and with the College of Public Health. He has developed grant-funded consortia with the University of California, University of Southern California, University of Florida, University of Miami, University of Puerto Rico, University of the Virgin Islands, Florida A & M University, and Emory University
