Evaluation of a Healthy Marriage Demonstration Program
MHLP has received a new grant to evaluate a Healthy Marriage Demonstration program. Colleen Clark and Scott Young will work with Jewish Family & Children’s Services (JFCS) of Sarasota, Florida to implement a demonstration project targeting low-income unwed expectant or new parents in the Manatee & Sarasota County area of Florida. This is a new initiative funded by the Administration of Children and Families, Office of Family Assistance for five years to develop programs to strengthen families. JFCS has a long-standing history of providing marriage and parenting education to high-risk populations, including low-income and homeless/at risk of homeless families, and this is a natural extension of current successful programming.
Colleen Clark and Scott Young are also collaborating with another Sarasota agency, First Step, to evaluate their Mothers and Infants Transitional Living Program, and along with another MHLP faculty member, Kathleen Moore, are collaborating locally with Mental Health Care, Inc to evaluate their assertive community treatment team for individuals with severe mental illnesses who have been chronically homeless.
