Reunification: Is It Safe and Sound?

One day training (6 hours)

This training will examine the conditions and behavioral indicators that must be present before reunification can be considered and safely achieved. The critical decision to return children home must be based on a current and accurate assessment. This involves consideration of reasonable progress on the part of the parents, reasonable efforts on the part of the caseworker, best interests of the child and other pertinent factors. When you complete this training you will be able to:

  • Develop a reunification plan
  • Recognize when reunification is safe
  • Assess a parent’s progress
  • Assess a parent’s protective capacities
  • Describe what to do with ambivalence
  • Develop aftercare plans
