Knowing the Basics of Psychiatric Medications

 

Half day training (3 hours)

This training is an overview of the medications used in the treatment of psychiatric disorders.  It covers the categories of medication, therapeutic effects, side effects, and precautions. This training will give you a basic understanding of the medications you may encounter when investigating or working with families and children. By completing this training you will be able to:

  • Identify the different categories of psychiatric medications and how they are used
  • Define the relationship between psychiatric symptoms and categories of medications
  • Demonstrate ways to assess the use of these medications by a family or a child
